Eastern Caribbean Central Securities Depository (ECCSD)
The ECCSD, a wholly owned subsidiary of the Eastern Caribbean Securities Exchange (ECSE), is as a full-service central securities depository (CSD). It was incorporated in St Christopher and Nevis in 2001 as a public limited liability company, under the 1996 Companies Act. The ECCSD is licensed and regulated by the Eastern Caribbean Securities Regulatory Commission (ECSRC), under the Securities Act of 2001.
The ECCSD is licensed both as a clearing agency and as a securities registry. Accordingly, it provides clearance and settlement of trades transacted on the ECSE. It also provides securities registration, transfer and paying agency services to participant issuers and processes corporate actions including retail payments of investment proceeds to securities holders. Custody services are also provided for entities wishing to hold securities at the CSD on behalf of their customers. Customers can include custodian banks for foreign investors.
The main participants on the Depository are broker/dealers, limited service brokers and custodians.
